Friday Inspiration. Balmain.
Though this Balmain Spring 2016 show was mostly devoted to menswear, some very interesting women's items appeared.
Made of woven leather ribbons these dresses are so inspiring! I would say the techniques used are very similar to macrame. But these stitches can be easily reproduced with the crochet hook! Each dress looks rather complicated, but if we try to "break" it in crochet stitches everything is pretty basic. A lot of crochet chains, single crochet, some pikos, long or extended stitches. The main trick, of course, is to put all these basic bricks into the final piece that would look harmonious.
My favorite piece in the collection is this amazing architectural dress. Also pretty "doable" with knitting/crochet skills. I would prefer using crochet hook for it, as it creates fabric that is more "stiff" and holds the shape better.

I got some emails wondering about the World Crafters Series. I promise I am not going to give up this project that I love so much, but as my life got pretty hectic these last months, I find it challenging to keep up with the interviews that are very time consuming.
