Friday Inspiration. Alison Tsai.
My week's inspiration is Alison Tsai, a Taiwan knitwear designer who currently lives and works in New York. Alison is creating conceptual and such inspiring knit pieces.Fashion wasn't on top of her list when Alison was choosing her profession. Looking for something safe and stable, Alison got her master's in Physical therapy and worked in a hospital for some time. But life took its course. Something that started as a hobby completely changed her life.Alison started as a self-taught fashion designer. Her fresh vision and exquisite work with texture, materials and forms brought her the title of the Designer of the Year by Taiwan Fashion Awards in 2010.Since then Alison is pursuing her dream and her passion. Her vast knowledge of anatomy and biology helps her to create unusual, but wearable pieces that are truly the works of art!Her pieces are a mixture of different techniques - crochet, knitting, machine knitting, macrame, beading...I am so inspired by this beautiful knitwear to experiment with my needles and crochet hook! You can see more of Alison's work on her website www.alisontsai.com. If you are interested to read more about her, I highly recommend reading Alison's interview for www.tackmag.com - her way to her dream is so moving and admirable!
I wish you a great creative weekend!
