Yarn Therapy
There is something about yarn that soothes me. I know I am not the only one! The sight of the basket full of colorful squashy soft skeins in my corner automatically puts a smile on my face every morning. I am wondering - why? I guess for me it's the promise that is sealed inside each ball - a promise of quiet time spent at home with the dear ones, or a long exciting road trip accompanied by Queen songs and the clicking of my favorite needles; a promise to learn something new; a promise to make a special gift for the loved ones; a promise to create something on your own, just like that - with a simple thread.I noticed there are two periods in my knitting/crochet life. One - when I cast on one thing after another already knowing what I am going to cast on next as soon as I am done with the current project. I love this stage, it's always so exciting and keeps my hands constantly busy. Other stage is when I finish a bunch of projects and don't cast anything on for a week or two. This stage is all about yarn - I am going through my stash, taking out different skeins one by one and thinking what it will become one day. Right now I am going through this stage.I took out absolutely beautiful, light, squashy skeins of merino/silk blend - a gift from lovely Kelley. This is such a special yarn for me, I still can't believe I have it!
The yarn is incredibly soft and silk gives it amazing soft luster! And the color... (Steph, I know you would get a whole wagon of it :))
So, my needles are busy again! I am still not sure what I am going to make, just enjoying knitting swatches right now to know the yarn better.
As for the reading, I am drawn to Russian classics again, after a long break. Choosing between Pushkin, Tolstoy and Turgenev...
I hope everybody is having a lovely and peaceful week!
