Mohair Flor. Textured Sweater Pattern
When you love knitwear to the moon and back and your dear friend loves to play with camera and light, magic happens. We chased the sunset light to catch the halo of mohair and the texture of La Flor. The result is a collection of soft mellow photos that I hope will be able to show you the beauty of the fiber and stitches.
Mohair Flor is the update for my La Flor sweater published almost two years ago. Inspired by the beautiful mohair from South Africa - Take Care Mohair by Wool and the Gang - the sweater features loose fit, simple finishing and engaging easy to knit textured stitch pattern.
Light as a feature, this sweater is incredibly warm and has a slight drape to it. Knit on US 10 1/2 needles, it is almost instantly gratifying project - it will fly off your needles! The repeated every 4th row "textured flowers" will keep you interested and in between rounds of good old stockinette will be perfect for relaxing knitting time.
In Mohair Flor version I simplified the sleeves shaping - there are less decreases in order to have a slightly wider sleeve cuff and I omitted all the edge trimming - leaving the raw bind off edges for a more casual and cozy look.
I love this sweater in the neutral - Dusty Grey - color, but you can also play around and some bright colors. Wool and the Gang has 7 shades to choose from - I would make my second version in Lovely Lilac...
Mohair Flor is shaped the same way as the original one - seamless bottom up sweater with the modified drop shoulder sleeves knit in the round top down. Because of the nature of the pattern, you can easily modify the length of both the body and the sleeves of the sweater.
One of the modification made to the original pattern is the neckline - in Mohair Flor I left it more open with the minimum shaping to create a wide boatneck, which, if desired can be also worn off the shoulder.
