Wings Sweater. Preview and Giveaway.

Wings. Textured Sweater Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting.Today I can finally share with you some details of the sweater I have been working on since spring. The moment I had Daisy yarn in my hands, I knew the future piece has to be simple, feminine and with just a touch of texture. Linen, silk and hemp blend has a double action - crisp stitch definition and amazing drape.Wings. Textured Sweater Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting.I wanted to keep the details simple, but interesting enough to work on. I always wanted to incorporate twisted stitches in one of my designs, I think they create such a great visual effect, standing out against the stockinette stitch background. But I wanted to use this pretty simple stitch in a little bit unconventional way - this is how the idea of the staircase pattern occurred to me - I just love this gradual transition to the stockinette stitch and the way the stitch columns are "growing" from the raglan seam. And this detail gave the name to the sweater - Wings.Wings. Textured Sweater Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting. The rest of the sweater is very simple - good old stockinette with some Twisted rib on the side to keep you interested and engaged. After blocking Daisy opened up in such a beautiful way - the fabric floats around your body with a slight silk sheen. The sweater looks great with simple pair of jeans or white pants, casual and effortless. I've made my sleeves slightly longer, just the way I like it - they fall all the way down to my fingers, but as it is a top down construction, you can stop at any point you want. I also love rolling them up for a more casual look. Wings. Textured Sweater Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting. The finishing is very simple - i-cord around the neckline and raw edge sleeve cuffs to allow the natural curling of the stockinette stitch fabric.Wings. Textured Sweater Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting.I hope you will enjoy making this sweater. The pattern will be published on 18th of July - exactly in a week!
