Textured Sweater Pattern Preview and Giveaway

Hello, dear friends! I have some news for you! I am happy to announce that my pattern for the textured sweater is almost ready to be published! There are still some things to work through, but I can already give you a sneak peek. I’ll provide all the pattern details this Sunday, on the day of the official publication. For now, let me give you a general overview.

I always had a soft spot for texture and had some ideas how to play with it in a sweater for quiet some time now. I wanted a sweater that is covered in texture, but not overloaded with it. Something that is simple, but yet engaging to knit. After dozens of swatches, sleepless nights and 50 pages of notebook filled with sketching, I finally narrowed down my choice to two textured stitches – one for the body and the other one for the “frame” (neckline, hem and sleeve cuffs).

I also wanted to create a pattern that can be knit in different styles and with different yarn. So, I just had to give it a try myself and knitted two samples. The first beige sample is knit in 100% wool with 0-1″ of ease. It is very fitting and the light beautifully plays with texture “bumps”.

The second one is knit in 100% cotton yarn with 5-6″ of ease for the relaxed slightly oversize drop shoulder look.

The cotton emphasizes the texture and it turns the project into great spring/summer pullover.

I love how the look of the sweater changes with different colors. In my mind I see it in white, cream, pink, blue, etc. I would be thrilled to see it knit by you in all kinds of shades!

The sweater is knit in one piece, without a single seam. The pattern is written for worsted/aran weight yarn for the extra cozy look. The pattern is graded for 6 sizes, the size range – 32″ – 55″ (81.5 – 139 cm) bust measurement. The modeled photos are coming on Sunday.

Today I am giving away 3 free copies of the pattern! The winners will get the copy of the pattern this Sunday. To enter the giveaway leave a comment on this post with your Ravelry ID or if you want to gift this pattern to your friend, leave the Ravelry ID of your friend. The giveaway is open until Sunday, 28th of February. Find me on Ravelry to keep up with the updates!

Thank you so much for your support!

I am joining Yarn Along to get inspired by other crafters.

P.S. I am also very excited about this Friday. My favorite series World Crafters are finally back. I will share with you the interview with the amazing knitwear fashion designer who has been a huge inspiration for me for a very long time!

Love the second version so much! I’m all for the flowiness of clothes these days being postpartum & finding zero time to exercise it off. Thank you for the chance to win! I am always drawn to texture in knits. I especially love the look of bobbles but they all too often seem to end up resembling something a little too risque for the front of a sweater. 😉

Another beauty….I adore the subtlety of the texture, too. I like the idea of the choice between the looser and fitted versions; very versatile pattern, indeed. Must go queue this one—oh, the queue/favorites in rav is getting out of hand, but I’m moving this one to the top!!!

Hello, Alina. I have found your blog thru RV testing thread a few weeks before when you started looking for testers for this amazing sweater 🙂 And I was sooo disapointed when hadn’t found proper yarn in my stash to get gauge and join the test… because this sweater is all I love in knitting – seamless, versatile, simple but with the spice of texture, I imagine white fitted for work and navy blue flatering for picknics with family 🙂 And now the giveaway! :)) I will try my lucky star in this one 😉

Love the look of this sweater, sometimes cotton sweaters are not appealing to me because they stretch so easily. I wonder how easily/well this would translate to a light worsted wool.

This is a beautiful pattern! I’ve not tried knitting a sweater without seams – I’m not sure if that’s been my problem (one sleeve longer that the other) all along. :o) Hope I’m a lucky one this weekend! Thanks for sharing!
