Birthday Gifts of Life

Knitting Blog

Happy Wednesday and Happy 2018! It feels so good to be back to this space – I haven’t been exactly away, just a little bit behind the scenes – I’ve been knitting non-stop these days and also working on some website updates that you will hopefully see soon!

Today I am celebrating my birthday just the way I love – waking up at dawn, working, calling my dear ones to say “I love you” and “Thank you for everything” and slowing down today, just a little bit to feel grateful for one more year in my life – I do not take it for granted!!

Also I want to share with you some special for me images from my lonely December walk, when the wind was blowing, the sky was gray, but the ocean was so beautiful that it took your breath away – this is truly my happy place…

Summer Gifts + Free Wallpapers

Knitting Blog

Happy Friday! This week I was going through summer photos and found some hidden treasures from our August road trip. As hot and humid summer is gone, I wanted to save these images that remind me of salty air, hot, almost burning wind and the sound of waves crushing… I hope you will enjoy this little visual story today. I also prepared for you a set of downloadable wallpapers for your desktop and a phone. I wanted to do it for a long time, please, let me know if you like the idea 🙂

And now, off to California west coast… You can turn on Sigur Rós for the perfect mood.

Gifts Of Life. At Dawn

Knitting Blog

I love routine. Love waking up at the same time every morning while it is still dark, lit up a candle, stretch, knit, go to work… Love this familiar rhythm of days filled with simple little things that warm your heart. But sometimes there is nothing better than to wake up on your day off and decide to chase a sun. Jump in the car, turn on your favorite music and climb in the darkness up the hills to meet a new day, be in awe with nature and infinitely grateful…

Ode to Heritage

Moeke Yarns. Heritage.

Getting to know yarn during the swatch process, taking photos of the beautiful skeins is the best way for me to get inspired not just in craft, but also in life in general. I’ve been so busy these last months feeling like I am doing it all, but not really finishing anything, that I just needed a quiet weekend morning with my camera, some flowers and yarn – it’s like a meditation for me. I hope you will also enjoy this little photostory and pick your needles today…

Moeke Yarns. Heritage.

I didn’t think that I would love any other Moeke yarn more than I love Elena, but when I started swatching with the new batch of Heritage yarn, my heart skipped a beat. What a fiber…

The new batch is slightly thinner and softer than the one I am using for my blanket and it creates such a wonderful fabric – with subtle neutral color variations, amazing drape and lightness. It will make perfect season-less garment – it will be light and soft enough to wear next to the skin for a summer evening; and it will also make a great layer piece for colder months.

Moeke Yarns. Heritage.

Even winding the skeins doesn’t feel monotonous – I just love watching how the thread is slipping through my fingers and how colors form into a beautiful and unique pattern…

Moeke Yarns. Heritage.

The swatching is over and I am quiet happy with the idea that I came up with, usually I am very critical and it takes me weeks to get the result that I like, but this time it went pretty smoothly and just clicked. Hope to show you the result as soon as I can!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Looking forward to seeing your projects at Yarn Along today!

2016, Thank You!

Reindeer From The Woods cardigan; La Flor sweater pattern; Gallery sweater; Ocean dress; Green Snowflakes cowl; Bamboo Drape sweater; Sand sweater; Gesture sweater; Journey sweater pattern; The Choice cardigan pattern; Wall sweater; YOTH cardigan pattern.

2016… A year of challenge and hard work; great fears and doubts; endless hope, love and gratitude. My cozy little blog that I love so much is like a notebook filled with memories… I look at each finished project and can distinctively remember how and why I started it, what inspired me; I remember the joy of wearing the finished knit piece for the first time and excitement of sharing it with you; I remember the movies watched, songs played, road trips taken while working on each of them! Definitely better than a photo album!

Crafty Score of 2016 – 14 FOs (10 sweaters, 2 cowls, 1 dress, 1 shawl); 7 photo tutorials; 3 patterns.

I guess I could make more, but it’s not about numbers, right? 🙂 I wanted to thank you for your support this year. It means so much to me – this place got me through some rough days and I am beyond grateful for it. I also hope that you’ve found something useful and inspiring here!

I have way too many plans for 2017 and I hope I’ll have enough time to bring them to life and to share with you. One of the first things I’ll do in the new year is to update the website. I want to start 2017 new and fresh!

I wish you happy and peaceful holidays! Sending you and your families lots of love!

I’ll see you in 2017! ♥

Joining the last Yarn Along of the year! It’s been amazing to see so many wonderful projects throughout the year!

Textures and Textiles

Textures and Textiles

Happy Sunday, dear friends! As you probably know from my World Crafters series, I believe that our surroundings influence our creativity in so many ways. This weekend I was sorting through the photos of San Miguel de Allende and so many of them reminded me of my knits in some way. Today I would like to take you on this visual journey and hopefully inspire in some way to look around you and find inspiration in simple little things that surround you…
