Textured Sweater. Knitting Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting.

Happy Sunday! The weeks are flying by, my schedule is getting busier and busier, but there is always time for knitting. I caught myself that right now I am enjoying three stages of the sweater knitting, each of them I love in its own way.

Amber is done and in the hands of my technical editor who is helping to perfect the pattern for the publication. This stage is always exciting, you see your idea come to life exactly as you envisioned it and you actually put it down in the written form! Oh, and you get to wear the sweater, that you already love so much!!

Fog is in the process, the structure, the math, the logic, all is very clear in my head and right now I just need to make sure that it translates well into the knitting process.

Chocolate is in the experiment/swatch stage when I get to know the yarn better and test ideas from my notebook I keep updating almost every day with the knitwear dreams πŸ™‚ Lots of ripping off at that stage, but I know it is going to be worth it when I catch “I HAVE TO knit this” moment.

I am off to work and I hope you will share with me what’s your favorite sweater knitting part!

Have a wonderful day today!

This morning I spent more than an hour on the math of the new sweater I’m designing for myself. So now I’m on my most favourite part – binge watching Friends (for the n-th time) and knitting from my notes. It’s early stages so it’s still the optimistic part of the sweater, when I’m full of hope that I’ve calculated and envisioned everything right πŸ™‚ And I’m so glad I don’t have to write it down and explain all the increases and adjustments to anyone else, to me writing a design is the most difficult part of all. I truly admire all of you designers, who not only imagine knitting, but are able to communicate the process to others.

Thank you for sharing, Carmela! Watching Friends and knitting your own design sounds like a total bliss to me πŸ™‚ Math and figuring out the construction definitely takes time and some joy from the knitting process, but over the time I got so used to it that not taking notes feels weird.
