St Petersburg. City’s Diary

Knitting Blog. The Gift Of Knitting.

My trip to the favorite city didn’t go exactly as planned, but these 3 short days were filled with dear friends, magical places and good food. This post is a collection of random moments caught here and there, each of them holding a beautiful memory about this place that will always stay in my heart.

I hope you will feel, through these simple phone photos shot on the go, the atmosphere of this unique city – magnificent buildings that make you stop and stare; cozy little cafes filled with smell of freshly baked bread and deserts and book stores hidden behind city’s doors; that distinct city’s voice made of traffic, announcements of the current exhibitions and excursions, street musicians and the mix of languages on the streets; the “texture” of the city made of colors, buildings, canals and people.

Oh, Alina, I wish I were younger and could have you to guide me through your St. Petersburg! I was barely there for a day or two, many years ago, on a river boat trip from St. Petersburg to Moscow. I would like to have been able to go again and stay longer–enough to see more of Russia beyond “the sights” and speak with Russian people. Thank you for your lovely images.

I am happy to hear you loved the city! I always say one day in St Petersburg is just a crime – it is never enough 🙂 Maybe one day you will come back again, get a simple room in a hotel in the center and just walk, this is the best way to enjoy this place.
