Happy Sunday! Today I would love to ask you a favor. When several weeks ago Ioana from Moeke Yarns reached out to me with her idea to run a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for further building Moeke’s future, I immediately agreed to be a part of it. And not just because Ioana is a good friend and a person who believed in me and really pushed me through some not of my best times, but also because I believe in Moeke yarn with all my knitter’s heart.
As you might already know Moeke is a unique Romanian organic wool. Born from the dream to preserve local wool business which was basically collapsing more and more each year with shepherds burning the wool because there was just no demand for it, Moeke grew into a yarn brand warmly accepted in knitting and crochet community. As the demand for yarn is growing each year, Ioana and her family just physically cannot keep up with it. Especially with the washing process of the wool, which is very time and work consuming. This year Moeke set up a goal to build their own fiber mill that will handle the washing process, using eco-friendly equipment and creating jobs for local people.
Building a washing station and hiring a person who will be responsible for washing the wool is the first very important step that will allow to make the whole process faster and with less water and energy waste. Ioana and her family have more amazing plans for the future – you can read more about it in her blog post and on the page of the crowdfunding campaign.
Today I would love to ask you to help them. To help to make a difference, to avoid wool waste, to create job opportunities for people, to bring eco-friendly project to life, to grow Moeke, because it deserves it oh so much!
To thank you for your support, Ioana prepared several perks for you for different donations, you can see them all here – Help us equip the Moeke Yarns fiber mill. Among them you will also find my patterns – for your donation you will receive a pattern of your choice – Heritage, Journey or Ivy sweaters.
Thank you so much!!! Let’s make it happen!
