FO - Chunky Chevron Crochet Blanket.

Chevron Crochet Blanket

Yesterday was a very special day. My dear Granny Eugenia turned 75! She is my guardian angel, my love, my friend, my supporter... Though there is an ocean between us, I always feel her love for me and her faith in me, I feel her presence in my life, I know she thinks about me and prays for me every single day, I know how endless and bottomless her love for me is and that the most important thing for her is to know that I am happy and in good health. She was the first person in my life who I saw knitting and crochet, she was the one who taught me how to make my first crochet stitch. Little did she know at that time how important this craft will be later in my life! I am deeply deeply grateful to her for everything that she gave me! So, I want to devote my latest FO to this special woman - my dear Granny Eugenia!I started my crochet blanket back in Baja, before our move. I was looking for some project that I could dive into without concentrating too much. It was quiet a hectic time in my life with so many changes happening at the same time that breaking my head over complicated pattern was not on my list. The blanket was perfect! I remembered the stitch almost instantly and could always pick the project up and continue working on it without giving it too much thought.Chevron Crochet BlanketThe blanket traveled with me across the sea and half of the country. It became my travel notebook where memories are printed in the form of single and double crochets.

Project Notes

Ravelry Page.  Chunky Chevron Crochet Blanket. The notes include all posts on this project listed in order.Pattern. Textured Chevron Crochet Blanket. Original post here - Textured Chevron Crochet Blanket Pattern.Yarn. 100% local cotton. Yarn details can be found here – Crochet Is Back.  The project became a great stash buster! I was holding three strands at the same time, so three packages of yarn were gone in no time.

Texture. Before finding this wave stitch, I knew for sure that I wanted a blanket very rich in texture. I imagined it lying on the sofa, cozy, chunky and warm.

As soon as I made my first swatch with this stitch, I knew it - this is exactly what I am looking for! I've always had a soft spot for chevron, and the textured ridges of this stitch went perfect with it!

Color. The project was planned to be a stash buster, so for me it was essential to find the crochet stitch that would give me the freedom to mix leftover yarn of different colors. And here you can do whatever you imagination or your stash allows! I chose to work big sections of color with white background breaking in.

But there are so many possibilities - work in solid color (the texture is very rich, so it won't look boring), combine different blocks of color, play with gradient effect or strong contrast, or even change the color every single row! No limits at all!
