Knitting blog

My Moments this week consisted of hard word, long walks, discovering new places and flavors and knitting in between all of that. I love how my sweaters become “tags” in my life, each one is associated with places, events, people, flavors. It is better than any photo album for me.

This week, while working on a new knit, I discovered a cozy vegan cafe in my neighborhood, where you can see love in every single detail. I used to be vegan myself in my early twenties, but to be honest it didn’t work for me, the biggest reason for it being that I am completely inadequate in the kitchen and I lack any kind of food related imagination. But this place blew my mind with all their original and oh so delicious recipes. Oatmeal cooked with coconut milk with coconut flakes, banana, berries and almond butter; unsweetened matcha with chocolate all natural energy ball, various acai bowls, smoothies and so on. Now it is one of my favorite breakfast places, it opens early, so I can have my blissful hour here before heading to the office.

This week was generous to me with these beautiful moments on the secluded rocky beach, pink sunset light, salt in my hair, sand under my feet and feeling blessed to be living close to such gorgeous places. It will never cease to amaze me how lucky I am to call this place a home.

My knitting moments were scarce, unfortunately. It’s been a busy week at work and the only thing that I had energy for is to go to bed early, read a little bit and sleep. But nonetheless, this sweater is growing on my needles in a pretty steady pace. Daughter by YOTH yarns is such a joy to knit with, I am looking forward to seeing how it will open up after blocking!

Happy Sunday! This week to my Moments collection I am adding good food, friends and long talks about everything in the world – I cherish and so appreciate them and only hope that I can be lucky enough to enjoy them many years to come!

My knitting moments this week consisted of working with a wonderful group of test knitters for Fog cardigan, casting on a new sweater – I had idea for it stored in my head for months – and making a space in my tiny apartment for installing a knitting machine – yes, I think I am actually coming back to machine knitting! It’s been awhile since my last project, but the truth is there had been so many changes in my life that the idea of installing a knitting machine just didn’t sparkle much enthusiasm in me. But a few days ago I woke up with this image of a knit dress in my head and I knew it would be a great project for a knitting machine. I hope my hands and brain will remember quickly how to operate it. I will share it here, of course!

Moments 27/19

Knitting blog

Happy Sunday! I am happy to keep sharing my Moments collection where knitting and life get entertwined and create memories worth  coming back to.

My usual routine has been interrupted this week – I have some free time from my day job that I used to travel to the mainland, get some work done and take care of other things that I have been postponing for a long time. Though it was definitely a challenge, I am blessed to have been able to experience so many beautiful moments and share them here with you.

I’ve always dreamed of having an apartment with the open city view, made my dream a reality for a week this time by renting a small studio in a quiet and green neighborhoood of Guadalahara. The weather is a bliss – warm and sunny during the day and with thunderstorms and refreshing rain during the night. I just love this feeling of falling asleep while listening to the sound of rain and watching the city.

I spend my days working, knitting, exploring the area and already missing home a little bit. I hope you enjoy the capture of some of these moments.

Moments collection is the pieces of time that I collect during the week to keep and cherish them here. This week was very busy, today is my 7th day at work without a break, but I am hanging there – my weekend is coming so is my vacation, that I am so looking forward to.

My days are quiet and consist mostly of routines, which I am always grateful for. I am reading The Seville Communion, which starts with the hacker breaking in a Vatican computer system. Quiet an engaging detective that makes me want to visit this Spanish town. I am watching one of my recent discoveries – HBO series Chernobyl – that I am so impressed with. Though of course I heard of it back in childhood when living in Russia, nobody told us the story of what actually happened there and the scale of the tragedy… Once I am done with it, I want to research more about this subject.

As always grateful for another week full of beauty and knitting!

Moments 24/19

Knitting Blog

Happy Saturday! I am continuing my moments collection with sharing my zip line adventures that I was lucky to participate in. When we got an email at work inviting us to try this activity, I said yes immediately – I am not really into extreme sports/activities, but since recently I promised myself to say “yes” to new things and opportunities. I am not backing up. At the end of the day it is always better to do something rather than step away because of the fears holding you.

Though we ended up being absolutely exhausted walking up and down the hills from station to station with all the equipment, the views were so worth it. Looking at these photos right now I still can’t believe I actually crossed these canyons flying in the air attached to the cord – what an experience! So grateful for this opportunity and that all went smoothly.

As for my knitting, it was mainly happening on my computer screen – putting together the draft and preparing it for the test knitters and my technical editor. So looking forward to sharing it with you!
