Book Yarns

Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.Happy Sunday, dear friends! First of all, I would like to thank you for your wonderful comments and messages and emails sent my way - I read every single one of them and I cannot express how grateful I am for all your support. Before Add One Stitch Knitting is officially released, I will tell you a little bit about the making process. As I mentioned in my previous post, this book is the result of work of many people and each of them made it possible to happen.Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.

Today I would like to express my gratitude to yarn companies that were so kind and generous to provide me with the materials.

DROPS Yarns, Cascade Yarns, Debbie Bliss - Thank you so much for your support!

You know how much I love the process of getting to know the yarn before starting a projects with it. Though the deadlines were pretty tight, I still made a commitment to create my favorite, as I call them, yarn photo stories to share with you later. When I got the confirmation from the editor that the publisher gave us a green light for the book, I asked two things - first, that the fibers we use are natural animal and plant fibers and second, that I would love to stay true to myself and choose neutral soft color palette. Thankfully, I got the full freedom in that and I started preparing the list of yarns and colors.Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.Today I would like to share with you this beautiful fiber collection I was so lucky to work with! I mentioned earlier that the diversity of fibers and textures and colors is one of the most fascinating things for me in knitting and the fact that I received a box full of completely different fibers made me ecstatic!

Absolutely gorgeous silky 100% pima cotton and bulky deliciously soft 100% Peruvian wool by Cascade Yarns. This pima cotton creates a great drape and has a beautiful sheen to it. It is pretty slippery, so if you are novice it will be challenging to keep the stitches perfectly even in simple stockinette, but this problem is solved by the use of textured stitch for the summer top pattern provided in Add One Stitch Knitting. As for Peruvian wool, I published a full yarn review of Magnum yarn, so you can appreciate all its gorgeousness!!

100% cotton by DROPS - creates great texture and the choice of colors is endless! The thread is spin very loosely, so the fabric created won't be stiff at all.

Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.Merino wool by Cascade Yarns and Nepal by Drops. Merino would make a great yarn for baby knits - it is extremely soft and not itchy at all. The spin of the thread gives amazing stitch definition. Nepal, wool and alpaca blend, became one of my favorite yarns to work with! It is just so pretty, soft and easy to knit with - would definitely use it for garment knitting!Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.

Paloma by Debbie Bliss - magical yarn!!!! I have a big review about it that I published earlier and I also used the leftovers for my Simple Baby Hat free pattern.

One of the most popular Debbie Bliss yarns - Cashmerino. A great budget way to add the touch of cashmere in your handknits!

Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns. Now to my favorite one. It is so so hard to choose that I liked the best - all the yarns are unique and interesting in their own way, but there is something about DROPS Andes that made me gasp - the way the thread is spin, the thickness of it, the amazing color palette, the texture it creates - everything appealed to me.Wool YarnAdd One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.Looking back, I cannot believe that it's been already a year since I started working on this project and though it was probably the toughest year workwise, I know it was so so worth it! Every single project and yarn is very special to me and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!Add One Stitch Knitting. Yarns.
