Friday Inspiration. Helen Rödel.

Helen Rödel, a Brazilian fashion designer, creates modern, edgy, colorful, one of a kind pieces using traditional techniques.I love how Helen plays with color in this piece. The rich burgundy is timidly peaking out of the white background. I am so inspired now to try this technique in different color combinations and stitch patterns.

 One of my favorite pieces. I LOVE the sleeves! What a simple/genius idea.

Helen was born at the South of Brazil, where a lot of women knit and crochet. Helen decided to develop her brand there, because it allows her to contract local crafters to preserve the traditional craftsmanship. I think it's absolutely amazing. So many unemployed women who live there can actually make an income while knitting and crochet and working with the brand.
