Textured Cable Sweater Knitting Pattern. The Gift Of Knitting.

Amber sweater pattern is live on Ravelry! Thank you so much for your patience, I’ve been back and forth editing the pattern file, changing things, just to make sure that you will have everything you need to knit this sweater worry free.

Amber is knit on 6 mm (US 10) needle, so by the time you are done with the second cable repeat, you will be binding off the sweater body. It makes the whole process more engaging and keeps things fresh.

Because of the nature of the cable, it looks different depending on the angle – whether it is a diamond shape formed on each side, or an hourglass on the front, or simple cable twists on the shoulder. That is my favorite detail of this sweater.

The fabric created by Daughter is soft, holds the shape greatly and has a nice flow to it so even a heavily textured sweater won’t look bulky.

General Pattern Information

CONSTRUCTION

Amber sweater is knit bottom up in the round to the underarm, then divided for front and back to be worked flat. The modified drop sleeves are picked up and the cap is created with the help of short rows, eliminating all extra fabric for a better fit. The sleeves are knit in the round top down which allows to modify their length.

DESIGN DETAILS

Texture

Traveling voluminous cables are knit against a simple knit/purl textured background. The cable looks different depending on the angle – whether it is a diamond shape formed on each side, or an hourglass on the front, or simple cable twists on the shoulder. Rich in texture body creates a contrast with plain stockinette stitch sleeves.

Sleeves

Sleeves are knit in the round top down, starting with a cap shaped with simple short rows. The length is adjustable.

Neckline

A classic neckline is trimmed with 1×1 ribbing.

Sizing

The sweater is graded for 8 sizes with approximately 8″ of ease. The sample is shown in size Small with 8″ of ease.

This photosession is so beautiful, I love the soft light and the subtle neutral colors you’ve chosen to present your new pattern. The traveling cables among the textured background are very eye-catching. Another great pattern, Alina!
