Add One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderToday I can finally share with you a very special project that I have been working on for a very long time. One year ago I opened my emails and... couldn't believe my eyes - I was offered to write a book for beginners, introducing them to knitting textures. The idea of the book was to show to a novice that knitting is basically made of two simple stitches - knit and purl - and mastering these two stitches will open a realm of new combinations and textures. As soon as I read about the concept of the book, I knew I could do it - this was exactly how I started my knitting journey and the idea of basically endless possibilities created by just two simple stitches was the reason of my immediate fascination with knitting as a craft. And, after one year of work of so many wonderful people, this project has come to life!!!I am trilled to present you Add One Stitch Knitting, a book for beginners, filled with simple, but eye catching knit textures and beautiful projects you can use to practice your skills!Add One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderI was at work when the courier brought me the first copies, I opened the package and cried... I couldn't believe that it is finally here! It was such an emotional moment for me! I cannot express how grateful I feel for the opportunity to share something that I love with all my heart in such a beautiful way.I knew I wanted to present the book to you in a special and meaningful to me way. So, I took my family on a morning hike, up my favorite mountain, wearing my beloved Heritage sweater that was protecting me from cool morning wind... I hope these photos filled with early morning sunshine, stunning views, majestic nature and my messy hair will be able to transmit how happy I am to be able to share this project with you here!Add One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderAdd One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderAdd One Stitch Knitting book by Alina Schneider

As you can see, there are two editions for the book - US and UK, as the knitting terminology is a little bit different in two countries.

When we started working with my editor, Charlotte Frost, I told her that I see the book in subtle, soft neutral colors. This is more "me" and this is how I "see" knitting. I am really happy that the publishers agreed and I had the chance to bring my vision to life. I was also pleased to see that my Instagram photo inspired the design of the cover - I think it makes it so much more personal!Add One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderAdd One Stitch Knitting consists of 15 Lessons, each of them includes the detailed instructions how to knit a stitch and a simple and stylish project for your home or wardrobe to practice your new skills. The patterns were designed for the beginners, but even if you are an experienced knitter, I am sure you will enjoy making these projects! One of my favorite patterns from the book is Hurdle Rib stitch bed throw made in chunky Peruvian wool. It is a great project to work on during cool winter nights - the blanket is so warm and it is quiet addicting to see this texture growing out of your needles!Add One Stitch Knitting book by Alina SchneiderI will tell more about the book in a more structured way next week, this post is too emotional and is getting too big already :) But before I finish I would like to copy here my Acknowledgements section that is very special to me:
